The agency representing actor Nana has expressed a strong stance against the defendant's continuous false claims and secondary victimization, just a day ahead of the appellate court sentencing for a home invasion robbery that took place last year.
In an official statement released on October 21, Nana's agency, Sublime, stated, "Nana and her mother suffered severe trauma from an intruder carrying a weapon who broke into their home in November of last year." The agency added, "Despite overwhelming evidence, the defendant repeatedly makes false claims, such as 'I did not enter with a weapon,' and continues to inflict secondary harm on the victims by sending letters claiming innocence to broadcasting stations and media outlets."
In particular, the agency revealed, "The defendant went so far as to commit the inhuman act of filing a counter-suit against Nana on charges of attempted murder and robbery resulting in injury." They continued, "We immediately filed a counter-complaint against the defendant for false accusation." The agency explained, "Investigative authorities conducted thorough investigations, including witness reference interviews and cell phone forensics. As a result, 'determining that all of the defendant's claims were blatantly false,' the defendant was indicted on charges of false accusation and is currently awaiting a court trial."
During the trial process, the defendant's extensive criminal record also came to light. The handling prosecutor previously pointed out, "In meeting tens of thousands of criminals over some 20 years, it is rare to see someone who has committed such a wide variety of crimes as the defendant. Fundamentally lacking a spirit of law-abiding, they do not know how to reflect on their own wrongdoing and are very skilled at active lying."
Previously, the defendant, Mr. A, was accused of illegally entering Nana's home in Achon-dong, Guri, Gyeonggi Province, wielding a weapon on the morning of November 15 of last year, inflicting injuries requiring 30 days of medical treatment on Nana and her mother, and attempting to rob valuables. At the time, Nana directly subdued Mr. A after a physical struggle and reported him to the police.
Mr. A was sentenced to 7 years in prison in the first trial last June, but appealed the ruling. The appellate court sentencing is scheduled to take place tomorrow, October 22.
