Dramas presented by Studio S and SBS this year have completely captivated the global market beyond South Korea, proving their unrivaled K-drama production competitiveness.
Studio S and SBS have placed four of their titles released this year—"Doctor X: Mafia in White," "Agent Kim Reactivated," "My Royal Nemesis," and "Sold Out on You"—at No. 1 in Netflix's Global Non-English TV category.
The currently trending SBS Friday-Saturday drama "Doctor X: Mafia in White," starring Kim Ji-won, rose to the top of the global chart just three days after its release and ranked No. 1 for two consecutive weeks in the rankings tallied from October 5 to October 18. It is demonstrating an unrivaled presence in the global market, recording 9.9 million cumulative viewing hours in its first week.
"Agent Kim Reactivated," starring So Jisub, also took the global No. 1 spot for three consecutive weeks and remained in the Top 10 every week from its premiere to its finale. "My Royal Nemesis," starring Lim Ji-yeon and Heo Nam-jun, and "Sold Out on You," starring Ahn Hyo Seop and Chae Won-been, also reached global No. 1 and enjoyed long-running success by staying in the Top 10 throughout their broadcast runs.
Hong Sung-chang, CEO of Studio S, said, "Thanks to the warm love and support of viewers at home and abroad, we were able to achieve meaningful results in the global market beyond Korea. We are deeply grateful." He added, "From 'Sold Out on You,' 'My Royal Nemesis,' and 'Agent Kim Reactivated' to 'Doctor X: Mafia in White,' which captivated the world in its very first week of release, I believe the passionate performances of the cast, the exhilarating catharsis characteristic of SBS dramas, and the distinct storytelling power of each project resonated with viewers worldwide." He continued, "Rather than becoming complacent with the meaningful interest and support sent by viewers around the world, we will continue to repay viewers' expectations with sincere, high-quality content."
Standing at the forefront of K-content by producing four consecutive global No. 1 hits, Studio S and SBS plan to continue targeting the global market with diverse subject matter and well-crafted productions going forward.
