Ahead of the appellate court sentencing in a home invasion robbery that occurred last year, actor Nana's agency has released a strong statement condemning the defendant's continuous false claims and severe secondary harm.
Nana's agency Sublime stated in an official statement on October 21, "Nana and her mother suffered severe harm due to an armed robber who broke into their home carrying a weapon in November of last year. Despite a substantial amount of evidence, the defendant is repeating false claims such as 'I did not enter carrying a weapon,' and is inflicting secondary harm on the victims by sending letters claiming innocence to broadcasting stations and media outlets."
The agency specifically revealed, "The defendant even went so far as to commit the inhumane act of counter-filing a complaint against Nana on charges of attempted murder and robbery causing injury," adding, "We immediately filed a complaint against the defendant for false accusation." The agency further explained, "Investigative authorities carried out a thorough investigation, including witness interviews and mobile phone forensic analyses. As a result, 'judging that all of the defendant's claims were clear lies,' the defendant was indicted for false accusation and is currently awaiting trial in court."
The defendant's extensive criminal history was also brought to light during the trial proceedings. The prosecutor in charge previously pointed out to the effect that, "Having encountered tens of thousands of criminals over the course of more than 20 years, it is rare to see an individual who has committed such a wide variety of offenses as this defendant. They fundamentally lack a law-abiding spirit, show no remorse for their wrongdoings, and are exceptionally adept at active lying."
Previously, the defendant, referred to as A, was accused of illegally trespassing into Nana's residence in Acheon-dong, Guri-si, Gyeonggi Province, on the morning of November 15 of last year while armed with a weapon, inflicting injuries requiring 30 days of treatment on Nana and her mother, and attempting to steal money and valuables. At the time, Nana directly subdued A following a physical struggle and reported the incident to the police.
A was sentenced to seven years in prison in the first trial in June, but appealed the ruling. The appellate court sentencing is scheduled to take place on October 22.
