'With Police Authority Growing, Responsibility Also Increases... Must Strive to Restore Trust'

Attending the ceremony marking the 81st Police Day, President Lee Jae-myung said that the police must bear in mind that as their authority has grown significantly following the reform of the criminal justice system, their responsibility has also increased.

He also noted that public anxiety has heightened due to recent interpersonal crimes and crimes with abnormal motives, stating that police must make painstaking efforts to restore public trust.

He further emphasized the need to cooperate closely with related agencies, including the Prosecution Agency and the Serious Crimes Investigation Agency, to prevent any vacuums or harm to the public from arising due to the absence of supplementary investigation rights.
