Actor Kang Shin-il, a mentor to South Korea's representative veteran actors such as Song Kang-ho, Kim Yoon-seok, and Sol Kyung-gu, and a 47-year veteran actor, is taking on his first-ever variety show.
On the SBS show "Same Bed, Different Dreams Season 2 - You Are My Destiny" (hereafter "Same Bed, Different Dreams 2"), airing at 10:40 PM on Tuesday, October 20, the 37-year married life of actor Kang Shin-il, renowned as a premium scene-stealer and "detective-specialized actor," will be revealed for the first time on television.
Stating that "Same Bed, Different Dreams 2" is his very first variety program, Kang showcased an extreme daily life befitting the couple with the longest marriage among all past cast members of the show. Unlike Kang, who is so quiet that it reaches the level of "taking a vow of silence," his wife is a "too much talker" who keeps talking endlessly 24 hours a day, creating a stark contrast that shocked the studio.
Seeing the silent husband, the MCs expressed distress, saying, "It's so quiet that it's unsettling," while the wife also burst out with grievances she had held in for 37 years, saying, "I want to open up my husband's brain," eliciting laughter.
In addition, Kang surprised everyone by revealing his special connections with actors from his theater days. Speaking about actor Sol Kyung-gu, with whom he has maintained a friendship for over 30 years since their days at Hakjeon Theater Company, Kang piqued curiosity by sharing, "When I appeared in the movie 'Public Enemy,' Sol Kyung-gu volunteered to be my manager," adding, "He would pick me up directly in front of my house every filming day."
The twist-filled marital life of charismatic actor Kang Shin-il and the story of his deep bond with Sol Kyung-gu will be revealed on "Same Bed, Different Dreams 2," airing on Tuesday night at 10:40 PM, October 20.
