Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on October 19 (local time) that he held a phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump, who publicly endorsed him ahead of the upcoming general election on October 27, to express his gratitude.
In particular, during the call, Netanyahu showed his strong determination to remain in power, stating that the two leaders still have "jobs to finish" together, including the Iran issue and the expansion of the Abraham Accords.
Earlier in the day, Netanyahu posted a video on his X (formerly Twitter) account showing himself on a phone call with Trump.
During the call, he said, "I am very grateful for this amazing statement of support," praising Trump as "a phenomenal leader of the free world and of America, and the greatest friend Israel has ever had in the White House, both when you were there and when you will be there."
Sitting in front of a fighter jet during a visit to an air force base that day, Netanyahu said, "Donald, we have unfinished business (with Iran). We're going to finish it together," adding, "We're going to complete that job, and no one else will do it."
In response, Trump encouraged Netanyahu, replying that he had written the endorsement statement himself without the intervention of his aides.
Trump said, "You're a warrior. You've been treated unfairly by your country and probably in many other places," adding, "But you're a great warrior, and we're going to prove that."
He continued, "You're fantastic. I was always thinking about doing it. Actually, I think you're going to have a tremendous victory," and added, "Bibi, you're somebody that I want to have around."
Netanyahu also added that the two must accomplish the task of expanding the Abraham Accords—agreements on normalizing relations between Israel and Arab nations—though he did not publicly mention specific countries by name.
