As the possibility is raised that Bukang, which has not been spotted feeding, may have completely starved for a full month, projections have emerged that its remaining lifespan may not be very long.

This morning, Bukang showed abnormal behavior by violently slamming its head against the outer wall.

In response, experts believe that significant problems are occurring in Bukang's body.

Choi Yoon, an emeritus professor in the Department of Marine Bio-Resource Sciences at Kunsan National University and a shark expert, explained, "Bukang's physical condition appears to be deteriorating rapidly," adding, "It seems to have collided heavily with the outer wall as its senses have dulled due to issues such as fatigue."

The National Institute of Fisheries Science, which manages Bukang, stated, "We have not detected any feeding activity from Bukang," and Professor Choi argued that it is highly likely Bukang has actually gone completely without food for a month.

Consequently, projections have also emerged that due to problems such as physical exhaustion and falling water temperatures, Bukang may only survive for about another two weeks.

Professor Choi analyzed, "Dusky sharks and others sometimes go without actual feeding for more than a month, or even up to two months," adding, "Given the high possibility that Bukang has eaten nothing at all, the energy stored in its body is likely significantly depleted."

He further claimed, "There is a possibility of survival for as short as about two weeks."

Yesterday, a wound was also discovered on Bukang's fin.

In videos filmed by citizens, it was confirmed that the tip of Bukang's right pectoral fin had turned white and was partially damaged.

Bukang, which was discovered at the Waterfront Park in Busan's North Port on September 18, was identified as a dusky shark measuring 3 meters in length.

Relevant authorities plan to announce a rescue plan for Bukang as early as this week.
