The Office for Government Policy Coordination met with major business associations on Monday (October 19) to hear proposals calling for bold regulatory exceptions in the government-promoted "5 Mega-Regions and 3 Special Zones" super-regional special districts.

According to the office, seven business organizations—including the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Korea Federation of SMEs, the Korea Employers Federation, and the Federation of Korean Industries—attended a meeting presided over by Son Dong-gyun, head of the Regulatory Coordination Office at the policy coordination office, on Monday morning.

Participants urged the government to resolve various regulations hindering corporate growth, including innovating regulations in emerging sectors such as robotics and biotechnology and aligning domestic and overseas regulatory and certification standards.

Son said, "We will continue regular communication with the business sector and join forces between the public and private sectors to remove obstacles that hinder investment and technological innovation one by one."
