Has the saying that stars are forgotten once they enlist become a thing of the past? Singer Kang Daniel, who is currently serving in the military, is drawing renewed attention with a performance in uniform.

Recently online, stage videos of Kang Daniel—who enlisted this past February—covering songs such as ATEEZ's "BAD" while performing with the Army Performance Team became a massive topic of discussion. Although it has not been confirmed which event the video was filmed at, as fancams showing Kang Daniel performing his juniors' song in his own sharp and powerful style spread, comments praising him were dominant, with viewers remarking, "Is the military his personal color?"

Kang Daniel also shared that his time with the Army Performance Team had come to an end, posting a video with the caption "now i'm gone" on his Threads account. He stated, "Thank you to everyone who watched my performances and supported me. Corporal Kang Daniel has completed his mission with the Army Performance Team, and I will return as Corporal Kang Daniel, master squad leader for the personal weapons subject in the Squad Leader Training Platoon, Support Company, Reception Battalion at the Nonsan Army Training Center."

Having attained the rank of corporal, Kang Daniel is known to be actively carrying out his military service, serving as a master squad leader in the squad leader training platoon since his enlistment. In particular, in the fancams, Kang Daniel appeared noticeably healthier and brighter than during his promotional days, thrilling fans waiting for his return.

In response, some online users recalled WOODZ, who also gained widespread attention during his service, reacting with comments like, "Could he gain attention even while in the military, just like WOODZ?" While serving in the military in October 2024, WOODZ performed "Drowning" on KBS 2TV's Armed Forces Day special of "Immortal Songs," and the performance video surpassed 18 million views, leading to a climb back up the music charts.

Kang Daniel is scheduled to be discharged on August 8, 2027.
