At least 19 people were killed and 25 others were injured in a stampede during a Hindu festival in Kolkata, eastern India, on the 17th (local time).
Police believe the accident occurred when a crowd in a narrow passageway pushed, shoved, and ran before falling after rain fell at night.
Authorities have detained festival organizers and are investigating whether there was negligence in safety management.
