Fierce red flames and thick black smoke continuously billowed out from the windows.

The fire broke out at around 8:38 AM today at a four-story metal printing factory in Naedong, Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province.

This is the scene right in front of the factory where the fire occurred.

As you can see, the ground is soaked with water used to extinguish the flames, the third floor of the factory where the fire started is completely charred, and windows are shattered in various places.

Fire authorities issued a Level 2 response, mobilizing personnel from neighboring fire stations, and fully extinguished the flames after two and a half hours.

During the operation, two factory workers and six firefighters were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation and exhaustion.

In particular, two firefighters were classified as seriously injured, having been found in states of cardiac arrest and impaired consciousness, respectively.

The firefighter with impaired consciousness has regained consciousness at the hospital, but the firefighter in cardiac arrest is reportedly still dependent on mechanical ventilation.

It was found that these two were among the initial responders who first entered the factory building, but became trapped and unable to escape when the fire suddenly spread.

At the time of rescue, the two were about 5 meters apart, and they reportedly suffered severe injuries while working in a two-person team.

A preliminary investigation showed that about 100 20-liter containers holding Class 4 hazardous materials, specifically Class 2 petroleum, were stored inside the factory.

Police and fire authorities plan to investigate the exact cause of the fire through a joint forensic inspection.
