A woman in her 30s who repeatedly posted malicious content targeting actor Han Ji-min has been sentenced to a fine in the first trial.

Judge Lee Ye-rim of Criminal Division 27 at the Seoul Central District Court sentenced the defendant, surnamed Lee, to a fine of 6 million won on October 16 on charges of intimidation and defamation.

Recognizing Lee's charges as guilty, the court stated that spreading false information that damages another person's reputation or image can also constitute intimidation.

"There is a need to send a stern warning against the act of criticizing, hurling insults at, or spreading malicious rumors about others by relying on the anonymity of online spaces," the court explained regarding the sentencing.

Immediately following the ruling, the court also advised Lee, saying, "The victim is concerned about a recurrence and is pleading for severe punishment for the defendant. As we are sentencing you based on your stated realization of wrongdoing and reflection, we hope you will look back on your mistakes and never commit the same offense again."

Lee was indicted on charges of posting 19 messages on her social media account between September and October 2024, such as "I will ruin the movie Han Ji-min appears in" and "Shut your mouth."

Investigations showed that Lee also tagged Han and her acquaintances in those posts.
