Im Eun-jung, head of the Gwangju Regional Serious Crime Investigation Agency who publicly criticized inaugural Serious Crime Investigation Agency Chief Kim Ji-yong during his nomination period, has held a closed-door meeting with an inspection official from the headquarters.
Huh Sung-hwan, the acting chief inspector at the Serious Crime Investigation Agency headquarters, visited the Gwangju regional office on the morning of the 15th to meet with Chief Im.
A team of six officials from the headquarters, including Chief Huh, visited the Gwangju office, and Huh reportedly spoke with Chief Im privately without any other attendees present.
The day after the meeting, on the morning of the 16th, Chief Im visited the May 18 National Cemetery and other sites, reiterating her previous stance by stating, "If Chief Kim Ji-yong does anything wrong, I will not hesitate to offer bitter criticism and advice, just as I have done so far."
Previously on the 5th, Chief Im claimed on her Facebook page that when Chief Kim served as head of Inspection Division 1 at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, he dismissed a petition requesting an inspection into allegations of sexual misconduct by a prosecutor, adding, "A person who should be taken as a negative example must not become the number one."
Following instructions from Minister of the Interior and Safety Yoon Ho-jung, the headquarters initiated an inspection into Chief Im on the 12th to examine whether she violated the obligations of political neutrality and maintenance of dignity for public officials.
