General managers across NBA teams have chosen the San Antonio Spurs as the top favorites to win the championship for the 2026-2027 season. According to AFP, in a survey of 30 NBA general managers across 48 categories released today (October 16), San Antonio received 50 percent of the votes, edging out the Oklahoma City Thunder (43 percent) to top the list of championship favorites.
For San Antonio's star player Victor Wembanyama, 77 percent of the general managers predicted he would win the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.
Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets received 10 percent of the support.
Wembanyama also received 93 percent of the votes in the category for the "player you would want to sign first when founding a franchise."
Driven by Wembanyama's stellar performances last season, San Antonio advanced all the way to the NBA Finals, but missed out on the championship title after losing to the New York Knicks.
