President Lee Jae-myung said today (October 15), "Tomorrow marks the 500th day since the launch of the Government of People's Sovereignty," adding, "Without yielding to any external headwinds or resistance, we will firmly walk the path of solely improving public livelihoods, practical reform, and inclusive integration."

President Lee made the remarks during a meeting of senior presidential aides he presided over at the Blue House on this day, stating, "The Republic of Korea stands at a crossroads of great transformation, and especially at times like this, we must examine the will of the people with an even humbler attitude."

Remarks concerning socioeconomic policies followed.

President Lee diagnosed, "Our economy is achieving remarkable results across various fields. If the current trend continues, there is a high possibility that our national income will surpass $40,000 this year, becoming the sixth country with a population of over 50 million to do so," while noting, "However, despite the strong performance in key indicators, the pace of recovery in people's livelihoods that the public expects is slow."

He went on to explain, "Nor does it feel as though the difficulties in the daily lives of our people have improved. It is time to make all-out efforts so that the achievements of the national economy as a whole lead to tangible fruits in the individual lives of citizens."

In particular, President Lee instructed, "Above all, the government must concentrate its capabilities on housing, employment, and financial issues, which are the very foundation of people's livelihoods," adding, "We must accelerate housing supply based on actual demand across life stages, and swiftly implement a national jobs project encompassing plans to draw upon private and public sector jobs."

He repeatedly emphasized, "Please also pay special attention to supplying policy funds, supporting interest rate cuts, and providing tailored debt adjustments so that we can wisely navigate the wave of interest rate hikes," adding, "The Blue House and the government must make these 'three core social policies' the top national agenda priorities for the remainder of this year and do everything possible to ensure that the warmth of growth spreads evenly across the entire society."

At the same time, he urged officials, "While expanding existing policies is important, please also identify and develop new policies."
