Police investigations are gaining momentum to uncover the background behind this brutal crime. The stabbing suspect in his 50s, surnamed Choi, reportedly stated during a police interrogation yesterday morning (October 14) that he "had grievances and thought about making news."
He reportedly stated that "since there was no place that would listen to his story, he looked for a way to let society know, thinking that committing a major crime would bring him attention."
Investigations showed that Choi had been staging a one-person protest since last August after becoming disgruntled while receiving hospital treatment for athlete's foot. He held a grudge when no one acknowledged him and he instead faced police investigation due to a report filed by the hospital.
However, police explained that "considering that Choi is incoherent and targeted people he had never met before, there are parts that defy common sense," adding that they have deployed a profiler to continue investigating the motive for the crime.
Police also stated that through CCTV footage from the time of the incident, the number of victims in the stabbing rampage has been confirmed to have increased by 1 to a total of 10.
There are 4 men and 6 women, with a total of 5 victims currently receiving inpatient treatment at the hospital.
A 19-year-old woman who was transferred to the hospital in cardiac arrest and whose pulse returned has not yet regained consciousness.

It was found that Choi arrived at the scene of the crime at 1:44 PM yesterday, after having a meeting at a probation office and even having lunch with a probation officer yesterday morning.
Based on his movements, police stated that the weapon used in the crime is presumed to have been brought from home and strapped to both of his arms just before the crime.
Having requested an arrest warrant for Choi, the police are also reviewing plans to disclose his identity, considering factors such as securing the public's right to know and the effectiveness of crime prevention.
