A man in his 20s serving as a social service agent has been arrested on charges of murdering his mother-in-law and kidnapping his wife. It has been confirmed that police have launched an internal investigation into why they failed to prevent the crime despite already having him on their investigative radar for domestic violence.

He is Kim, a man in his 20s accused of murdering his mother-in-law and kidnapping his wife in Songpa-gu, Seoul.

Wife A first reported the domestic violence to the police last August while going through marriage annulment procedures.
Confirming charges of assault and special intimidation, the police classified husband Kim into the highest risk category for reoffending and provided A with a smart watch.
However, the police stated that they could not secure his custody due to a lack of evidence other than the victim's statement, but it was revealed that multiple opportunities were missed.
After a search and seizure warrant was issued last month, the police visited Gunpo City Hall in Gyeonggi Province, where Kim was working as a social service agent, twice, but failed to meet Kim as he was on sick leave.
On the 6th, they attempted a search and seizure at his residence, but failed to secure evidence such as his mobile phone as Kim was not there.
It was learned that after failing to comply with police questioning scheduled for the 10th, Kim communicated his intent to appear on the 13th.
The tragedy occurred in the early hours of the 11th, with no additional measures taken against Kim, who had evaded three search and seizure attempts and failed to respond to the summons.

According to SBS reporting, the Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency has launched an internal probe into the Suwon Gwonseon Police Station for failing to secure the custody of Kim while he was under investigation.
The court issued an arrest warrant for Kim, citing concerns of flight and destruction of evidence.
