This is outside a foreign car dealership in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
A man swings his belt toward another man's face.
People around them try to intervene, but the man, seemingly unable to contain his anger, swings the belt again.
It was around 11:00 AM when the man in his 50s, surnamed A, went on a rampage, including slapping a dealership employee in the face.
Mr. A, an executive at a small-to-medium-sized cosmetics company, reportedly claimed that he complained about a defect in a vehicle he had purchased, but the dealership employee instead suggested that the responsibility lay with him.
After the employee walked away to avoid him, Mr. A even grabbed a plastic shovel from the parking lot and went looking for him.
[Mr. A: Hey! Where the hell did that bastard go?]
He opened the restroom doors one by one,
[Mr. A: I will find him. Come out. (Sir, please just put that down for a moment.) Come out! (You'll get hurt, man.)]
He also shouted that he would not leave until he found him.
[Mr. A: Bring him. Bring that bastard, bring him!]
Even after the police arrived, the situation did not easily calm down.
[Affected Employee: It's all caught on camera, him hitting my face with his belt.]
[Mr. A: Hey, hey, hey, I'll just pay the fine, you son of a bitch.]
The day after the assault, Mr. A returned to the dealership and threatened retaliation for reporting him to the police, ultimately leading to his arrest at the scene.
[Affected Employee: The biggest thing was how terrifying it was, and the thought that he might someday come back and retaliate against us.]
A police official stated, "It appears there was mutual assault as the other party also struck back," adding, "No one was seriously injured."
SBS contacted Mr. A's cosmetics company multiple times to get their stance on the incident, but was unable to reach them.
