A construction firm that participated in projects such as the presidential residence in Hannam-dong during the Yoon Suk Yeol administration without receiving full payment has won a partial victory in the first trial of a lawsuit filed against the government.
On the 13th, the 18th Civil Division of the Seoul Central District Court (Presiding Judge Ryu Seung-woo) ruled in favor of the plaintiff in part in a construction payment lawsuit filed by interior design company A, ordering that "the state must pay approximately 580.5 million won."
The court also ordered the state to bear 60 percent of the litigation costs.
Company A participated in construction work for parts of the main presidential office building and the Presidential Security Service quarters at the request of the Presidential Security Service in April 2022, but filed a lawsuit in November 2024 after failing to receive a portion of the payment.
The amount initially claimed by the company was approximately 900 million won.
Last month, the court issued a recommendation of settlement ordering the state to pay company A about 700 million won, but the state filed an objection, leading to today's ruling.
