Incidents of test-takers committing cheating acts by wearing smart glasses equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) and other features have occurred consecutively during early university admissions essay examinations.
Yonsei University caught a test-taker wearing smart glasses during its mathematics essay exam for natural sciences and integrated tracks held at the Sinchon Campus in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, at 10:30 a.m. on October 10.
Prior to the start of the exam, Yonsei University goes through a process of individually checking whether test-takers wearing glasses are wearing smart glasses.
Yonsei University found that examinee A, who was caught this time, was wearing regular glasses when the proctor checked, but switched to smart glasses equipped with a camera and battery after the exam began.
The proctor noticed during the exam that A's glasses looked different from regular glasses, reported this to the test headquarters, and confiscated A's glasses.
Examinee A admitted to wearing the smart glasses.
Yonsei University is reviewing follow-up measures against examinee A.
A test-taker wearing smart glasses was also caught at the natural sciences essay exam site at the University of Seoul on October 3.
The examinee in question was also not caught because they were wearing regular glasses during the admission ticket inspection, but it was reported that the wearing of smart glasses was caught by a proctor during the exam.
The University of Seoul immediately had the examinee leave the room and barred them from taking exams for the next three years.
