▲ Gajyeoga application guide
An application has been released that guides users on how to dispose of waste, which varies and is complex across different regions, with just a single photo.
The Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment and the Ministry of Science and ICT announced that they will conduct a demonstration of the waste disposal guidance app "Gajyeoga" starting tomorrow (the 13th) for residents of Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul.
Developed as part of the Ministry of Science and ICT's public AX project, this app allows artificial intelligence (AI) to identify the type of waste when a user takes a picture of it, and guides the user on disposal methods according to the regulations of their current location using location information.
It also enables users to apply for the collection of large waste items such as furniture and pay the associated fees.
The Ministry of Climate and the Ministry of Science and ICT plan to verify the AI's waste identification accuracy, service convenience, and stability in Eunpyeong-gu before gradually expanding the service areas.
