The unseasonable heat that began over the weekend reached its peak today, October 12.
In Seoul, daytime temperatures soared to 30.1°C (86°F), marking only the second time since 1913 that temperatures in October have exceeded 30°C.
Southerly winds blowing from a low-pressure system in the south and easterly winds from a high-pressure system in the east added fuel to the late-season heat.
The unseasonable heat wave is set to break as rain gradually begins tonight.
Rain will start in western regions tonight, expand nationwide tomorrow morning, and mostly die down by tomorrow afternoon.
Expected rainfall ranges from a minimum of 5 mm to a maximum of 50 mm, with more than 80 mm expected to pour over mountainous areas in Jeju.
In particular, caution is required for heavy rain between early tomorrow morning and tomorrow afternoon.
Meanwhile, this morning also recorded the highest temperatures ever for mid-October.
It will not be chilly until tomorrow as temperatures remain well above average years. However, after the rain stops tomorrow afternoon, cold air will move in, causing temperatures to drop sharply starting tonight. The morning temperature the day after tomorrow is expected to drop to 9°C (48°F) in Seoul.
Tomorrow morning's temperatures will start out cool, staying above 15°C (59°F) nationwide.
Daytime temperatures, such as 22°C (72°F) in Seoul, will drop significantly by around 8°C compared to today, centering on the central regions.
Strong winds will also blow nationwide from tomorrow night through the day after tomorrow.
Please take good care of your health.
