Twenty-one participants in the 2026 Ulsan Marathon, held in Ulsan on the morning of October 11, were transported to hospitals after showing symptoms such as heat exhaustion.
According to the Ulsan Fire Headquarters, around 11:00 AM on this day, consecutive 119 emergency calls reported participants suffering from symptoms including heat exhaustion accompanied by dizziness and vomiting, high fever, generalized weakness, leg cramps, and fainting.
Upon receiving the reports, the fire headquarters mobilized 119 ambulances and private ambulances to transport the patients to regional hospitals.
As of 2:30 PM, the final tally of transported patients reached 21 in total, comprising 15 transported by 119 ambulances and 6 by private ambulances.
The fire headquarters explained that the majority of patients showed symptoms like heat exhaustion, and no severe injuries were reported.
In addition, five people who complained of dizziness and headaches received first aid at the scene.
At 11:00 AM on this day, the temperature recorded at the Ulsan Weather Station, a representative meteorological observation point in Ulsan, was 26.8°C (80°F).
Hosted by the Ulsan Track and Field Federation, the event took place across three courses: half-marathon, 10km, and 5km.
The total number of participants reached 10,000.
