German professional football club FC Augsburg, featuring national team full-back Seol Young-woo in his first starting debut, secured a draw against the undisputed powerhouse FC Bayern Munich, fueled by the fastest opening goal in Bundesliga history.
Augsburg drew 2-2 after taking an early lead just 8 seconds into the kickoff against Bayern in their 2026-2027 Bundesliga Round 5 home match held at the WWK Arena in Augsburg, Germany, on October 11, courtesy of a goal by Robin Fellhauer.
Fellhauer capitalized on a mistake by Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer right after the kickoff to score.
Fellhauer's goal marks the fastest scoring in Bundesliga history.
The previous record was 9 seconds, set by Karim Bellarabi of Bayer Leverkusen in 2014 and Kevin Volland of TSG Hoffenheim in 2015.
Volland's goal also came in a match against Bayern.
This is the first time this season that Bayern has conceded the opening goal.
Seol Young-woo, who transferred to Augsburg ahead of this season, made his first starting appearance and played as a right full-back until the 17th minute of the second half, when he was substituted for Anton Kade.
Seol showed a strong presence, deeply joining the attack during slow build-up situations in the second half and unleashing a threatening shot.
Bayern equalized only in the 6th minute of the second half with a spectacular right-footed bicycle kick by Luis Díaz following a cross from Ismael Saibari.
Augsburg, which had been playing defensively, took the lead again in the 19th minute of the second half through a goal by Rodrigo Ribeiro during a counterattack.
Bayern, whose goals were repeatedly disallowed for offside after finding the back of the net twice following the equalizer, left-footed their frustrations as Serge Gnabry's shot hit the goalpost in the 38th minute of the second half.
Nathaniel Brown, who came on as a substitute in the 22nd minute of the second half, stepped up as Bayern's savior.
Brown rescued Bayern from defeat in the 35th minute of the second half by tapping in a low cross sent from the left by Harry Kane right in front of the goal.
Bayern's center-back Kim Min-jae, who was called up to the national team alongside Seol during the international break, was named on the substitute bench but did not play.
Augsburg sits in 5th place with 8 points, while Bayern is 2nd with 11 points.
FSV Mainz 05, where Lee Jae-sung came on as a substitute in the 25th minute of the second half, lost 3-4 to Bayer Leverkusen despite Anthony Caci scoring multiple goals.
1. FC Union Berlin, where Jung Woo-young started and played until the 33rd minute of the second half, beat SV Elversberg 1-0 thanks to the winning goal by Livan Burcu.
