In the early hours of yesterday (October 9), Coupang's major services experienced a simultaneous outage before being restored two hours later. Coupang explained that the issue was caused by an error during internal work.

An attempt to run the Coupang app installed on a mobile phone shows no products on the screen.
Even after entering the ID and password, the system only returns a message stating that the data request has failed.
These connection errors occurred simultaneously on both Coupang and Coupang Eats starting around 12:30 AM.
[Coupang Customer : I clicked to read a review, and it just said 'No products available.' So I was wondering what was going on....]
The system that delivery drivers use to check addresses and take photos after completing deliveries also ground to a halt, leaving logistics centers and delivery vehicles piled high with undelivered items during peak busy hours.
[Coupang Early Morning Delivery Driver : When delivering, you need to set the departure and log the completion. That function itself wasn't working.]
Coupang Eats, the delivery app, also went down, halting order acceptances and deliveries for small business owners and delivery drivers.
[Small Business Owner Using Coupang Eats : You have to press the cooking completion button so that delivery drivers can be dispatched, but the button wouldn't press.... In terms of hourly sales, that's about 200,000 to 250,000 won in losses.]
Communities for small business owners were flooded with posts complaining about the inconvenience.
The Coupang connection error returned to normal after two and a half hours, and Coupang posted a notice stating, "A temporary error occurred during the service upgrade process."
It is reported that no signs of external hacking have been found so far.
Coupang announced that it will compensate customers who failed to receive their deliveries with 5,000 won, and those whose food orders were cancelled with a 3,000-won coupon.
It also plans to compensate restaurant owners and delivery riders for the cancelled amounts.
