Yoo Hyun-jo has climbed to the sole lead in the second round of the Korea Ladies Professional Golf (KLPGA) Tour's HJ Heavy Industries-Dongbu Construction Championship.
Playing at A-One CC in Yangsan, South Gyeongsang Province, Yoo carded 11 birdies without a single bogey during the second round.
The tournament, which is the only event on the KLPGA Tour to use the modified Stableford scoring system, awards 5 points for an eagle, 2 points for a birdie, 0 points for a par, -1 point for a bogey, and -3 points for a double bogey or worse.
With 11 birdies, Yoo accumulated 22 points in the second round alone, reaching a total of +34 points to jump to the sole lead, just 1 point ahead of second-place Han Ah-reum.
Yoo, the 2024 Rookie of the Year and last year's Grand Prize winner, is pursuing her second win of the season and fourth career victory, following her triumph at the DB Women's Championship in May of this year.
Han Ah-reum, a second-year regular tour player seeking her first win, added 17 points with nine birdies and one bogey to reach a total of +33 points, placing her alone in second just 1 point behind Yoo. Kim Min-sun (Kim Min-sun 7) stood in third with a total of +31 points, and Seo Eo-jin placed fourth with a total of +28 points.
Kim Min-sol, the prize-money ranking leader who finished the first day tied for third just one stroke behind the leader, slipped to a total of +25 points and sole eighth place. Meanwhile, Seo Gyo-rim, who leads the multiple-win, grand prize, and scoring average categories with four wins this season, finished with a total of +9 points and tied for 79th, failing to make the cut.
The tournament, offering a total purse of 1 billion won and a winner's prize of 180 million won, runs through Sunday, October 11.
