Professional basketball team Changwon LG defeated championship candidate Wonju DB away from home to claim their second win of the season.
LG defeated DB 96-92 in an away game of the 2026-2027 KCC Professional Basketball regular season held today (October 8) at the Wonju DB Promy Arena.
After thoroughly defeating Busan KCC in their season opener on October 3 and suffering a setback against Suwon KT on October 6, LG successfully bounced back to record 2 wins and 1 loss.
DB, which had gotten off to a refreshing start by defeating Goyang Sono in their first game of the season on October 4, suffered their first loss of the season.
The two teams that faced off today have been drawing attention as championship contenders for this season.
At the pre-season media day, head coaches from as many as seven teams projected DB as a championship candidate, making them the overwhelming top choice, while LG received the second-most votes with two.
True to a matchup between powerhouses, the game was fiercely contested throughout, with the lead changing 9 times and the score tied 5 times starting from the first quarter.
A neck-and-neck seesaw game continued until the mid-to-late stages of the fourth quarter.
The side that shone brighter with late-game concentration was LG.
With 1 minute and 48 seconds left, Yang Hong-seok hit a 3-pointer to turn the game around 90-89, and taking advantage of another opportunity created by DB's turnover, Tamayo sank a 2-pointer with 1 minute and 16 seconds remaining on the clock to pull ahead 92-89.
DB plunged the game back into uncertainty with Lee Yong-woo's 3-pointer tying the score at 92-92 with 52 seconds left, but LG reclaimed a 94-92 lead 32 seconds later through Yang Jun-seok's drive and solidified their victory by adding two free throws with 6 seconds remaining.
Goodwin scored 21 points, the most among LG players, while Yang Hong-seok delivered a stellar performance with 20 points and 5 rebounds, including four 3-pointers.
Tamayo added 14 points, and Yang Jun-seok contributed 11 points and 6 assists, including 4 points in the closing moments.
For DB, Hammonds fought hard with 27 points and 8 rebounds, Henry Ellenson with 25 points and 9 rebounds, and Ethan Alvano with 19 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds.
