Park Ji-hyun and Jung Won-gyu, who reunited with plans for marriage following the conclusion of TVING's "EXchange Season 4", have ultimately broken up.
On October 7, Park Ji-hyun personally announced their breakup in a video titled "Tokyo 3-Day 2-Night Vlog | And the Story I Want to Share…" uploaded to her YouTube channel.
She began, "Over the past few weeks, so many people have been curious about my relationship with (Jung) Won-gyu oppa. Since so many fans supported us, I thought it was only right for me to speak about it directly." She continued, "Won-gyu oppa and I have talked and agreed not to see each other anymore," sharing that they have brought their romantic relationship to an end.
She did not disclose the specific reason for the breakup. Park explained, "I believe not talking about the reason we broke up is out of consideration for the other person and respect for the time we loved each other." She also expressed her hope that Jung Won-gyu would not be harmed or hurt by this video.
She also opened up about her feelings following the breakup. Park said, "It would be a lie to say I was completely fine after breaking up. There were difficult times, and there were heartbreaking moments. Although our relationship as lovers has ended, as a person, I genuinely hope he does well, stays happy, and lives a good life." She added, "If I meet someone in the future, I want to live while loving honestly with my own heart."
Previously, Park Ji-hyun and Jung Won-gyu had broken up once while preparing for marriage, but they reunited after appearing on "EXchange 4". The two chose each other in the program's final selection to restart their relationship, and Jung previously shared, "We got back together with the mindset of 'let's get married,'" confirming they were dating with marriage in mind. A song the two frequently listened to on "EXchange 4" also gained significant popularity, even climbing back up the music charts.
