A court has handed down a heavy prison sentence to a singer and YouTuber in their 40s who was put on trial for physically abusing and neglecting their biological daughter to death.
The Criminal Division 1 of the Changwon District Court's Jinju Branch (Presiding Judge Lee Seung-il) sentenced the defendant, indicted on charges including murder, to 25 years in prison during a sentencing hearing held today (October 8).
The court stated, "The defendant inflicted injuries on the victim and caused burns across her entire body," adding, "Although the defendant thought the victim failed to handle tasks she assigned or caused her embarrassment, these reasons are far too trivial to justify the harsh acts inflicted upon her biological daughter."
The court further noted, "The defendant has failed to properly acknowledge wrongdoing and is evading responsibility," while adding, "However, the sentence was determined by comprehensively considering various circumstances, such as the fact that the crime is difficult to view as having been meticulously planned in advance."
The defendant was indicted for physically assaulting her teenage biological daughter, B, who was on a leave of absence from school, and leaving her neglected inside a vehicle at a residence in Namhae-gun in September of last year, resulting in her death.
