"Doctor X: Mafia in White" heightened anticipation for its premiere by unveiling a teaser for Episode 1, highlighting Kim Ji-won's delightfully bold and cathartic moves.
Premiering on Friday, October 9, the new SBS Friday-Saturday drama "Doctor X: Mafia in White" is a refreshing medical noir depicting the journey of Gye Soo-jung (played by Kim Ji-won), also known as Doctor X and dubbed the "Crazy Gye of the operating room," as she dismantles massive corruption with her genius surgical skills.
While the previously released preview video for Episodes 1 and 2 drew significant attention by surpassing 3.89 million views (based on SBS's official YouTube channel) in just four days, the Episode 1 teaser released on October 6 captured viewers' eyes by showcasing Gye Soo-jung's first arrival after being dispatched from a medical temp agency to Guseo University Hospital.
In the video, Gye Soo-jung gestures a large "X" with her arms toward Park Tae-kyung (played by Kim Woo-seok) when asked for her name, and shows uncompromising resolve without bowing to the hospital's established hierarchy, asking, "Why are you opening the abdomen for this?" and declaring, "None of it, I absolutely will not do it." Hospital personnel tremble in fear, saying, "Everything could be shaken because of this person," while Jang Hee-sook (played by Lee Jung-eun), the head of the agency, flashes a confident smile and remarks, "She is the top ace of our agency."
Adding to the tension is the appearance of hospital director Boo Seung-kwon (played by Son Hyun-joo), who ominously remarks, "She's just a tail that can be cut off anyway," as well as the desperate voice of Park Tae-kyung, who is left alone in the operating room shouting, "What are we supposed to do if everyone leaves? There is no one here," heralding the thrilling essence of a medical noir that will sweep in intensely right from the first episode.
Helmed by director Lee Jung-rim, who directed "VIP" and "Revenant," and featuring a stellar cast including Kim Ji-won, Lee Jung-eun, Son Hyun-joo, and Kim Woo-seok, "Doctor X: Mafia in White" premieres on Friday, October 9 at 9:50 p.m.
