▲ Black smoke rises from the officetel fire
A fire broke out at an 8-story officetel (multi-use building) with one basement level in Yonghyeon-dong, Michuhol-gu, Incheon, at 9:29 a.m. today (October 6).
So far, it has been reported that six people have been rescued in the blaze.
Additionally, as thick black smoke soared into the sky, 29 calls were made to emergency services at 119.
Upon receiving reports that a large amount of flames and smoke were coming from the back of the officetel, the fire authorities mobilized 110 personnel, including firefighters, and 31 pieces of equipment such as pumper trucks, bringing the major flames under control within 28 minutes of the fire's outbreak.
An official from the fire department stated, "We are currently investigating whether there are any casualties," adding, "As soon as the remaining fire suppression work is completed, we plan to investigate the exact cause of the fire and the scale of the damage."
