Director Christopher Nolan's film "Odyssey" has surpassed 12 million cumulative moviegoers.
According to distributor Universal Pictures on the 5th, "Odyssey" surpassed a cumulative total of 12.027 million moviegoers as of this morning.
As a result, "Odyssey" has surpassed "Exhuma" (2024, 11.91 million) and "Train to Busan" (2016, 11.57 million) in succession, rising to 19th place all-time among films released in South Korea.
Among foreign films, it ranks 5th all-time, following titles such as "Avatar" (2009, 13.62 million) and "Avengers: Endgame" (2019, 13.97 million).
Released on August 5, "Odyssey" surpassed 10 million cumulative moviegoers 33 days after its release, on September 6.
It is Director Nolan's second 10-million-viewer film following "Interstellar" (2014) and the first foreign film released this year to attract 10 million moviegoers.
It continues its long-term box office run even after two months since its release.
As of this morning, it ranks 3rd in overall advance ticket sales, competing with new releases.
Based on Homer's epic poem "Odyssey," the film depicts the journey of Odysseus returning to his hometown of Ithaca after the Trojan War.
As the first feature-length film to be shot entirely on IMAX film cameras, it sparked fierce competition for ticketing in special theaters such as IMAX upon its release.
Matt Damon stars as Odysseus, and a star-studded cast including Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o, and Charlize Theron has also contributed to its box office success.
