With busy modern lifestyles, many people likely look for convenient meals to easily fix a quick bite.
Now, word has it that even the prices of these meals are surging.
This is the result of a survey conducted on 26 processed food items by the Korea Consumer Agency price information portal "T-Price."
As of last August, prices for 24 out of the 26 items increased compared to a year ago.
Soups and stews rose the most at 39%, followed by cup rice at 25%, soybean paste (doenjang) at 19%, and both cola and noodles rising by over 16% each.
Recently, food companies have been raising the prices of major products one after another, citing rising raw material costs and other factors.
The burden on grocery baskets is growing heavier.
