Two people, including the captain, are missing and nine others have been rescued after a fishing boat with 11 people on board capsized off the waters of Chagwido Island in Jeju.
The Jeju Coast Guard announced that it received a report at around 3 a.m. today (Oct. 5) stating that the 29-ton vessel A had capsized about 65 kilometers northwest of Chagwido Island in Hang-gyeong-myeon, Jeju.
Following the report, nine foreign crew members were safely rescued and are known to be in stable condition without major health issues.
Two individuals, including a South Korean captain and another foreign crew member, are currently confirmed missing.
The Coast Guard has deployed nine patrol vessels, two helicopters, and one aircraft to the scene to search for the missing persons.
