▲ Members of the People Power Party, including party leader Jang Dong-hyeok, shout slogans the previous day at the party's "National Action Rally to Judge the Lee Jae-myung Administration, Restore People's Livelihoods, and Defend National Security" held on Sejong-daero in front of Sungnyemun Gate in Seoul.
The People Power Party (PPP) is sharply stepping up its offensive targeting President Lee Jae-myung today (October 4).
The party has launched a fierce barrage of attacks spanning policy areas across national security, the economy, and the judiciary.
Ahead of the parliamentary audit, the party appears to believe that concentrating firepower on criticizing the misgovernance of President Lee and the administration is effective for seizing the initiative in the political landscape.
Earlier on the holiday the previous day, the party leadership mobilized its party resources to condemn the administration's misrule by holding the "National Action Rally to Judge the Lee Jae-myung Administration, Restore People's Livelihoods, and Defend National Security" in downtown Seoul alongside its affiliated lawmakers and party members.
Party leader Jang Dong-hyeok also wrote on Facebook on this day, "President Lee Jae-myung begged North Korea for peace even on Armed Forces Day. In front of our service members who lost an ankle alongside their comrades, he called it an 'unfortunate accident,'" adding, "In response to the president's 'jwa-ah' response, North Korea mocked it as a 'self-made farce' and answered with missiles."
He went on to scoff, "President Lee still has not said a single word. Does he plan to call the missile provocation an 'unfortunate launch' as well?"
Floor Leader Jeong Jeom-sik remarked regarding the previous day's rally, "I could feel the public sentiment of fierce anger against the Lee Jae-myung administration, which is destroying the public's economy, public safety, and national security, rising like a wildfire."
He then mentioned that President Lee recently used the expression "jwa-ah-hage" on X while urging the public to join in promoting state affairs achievements, stating, "I advise you to suspend your social media activities for the time being.
Furthermore, I urge you to step into the lives of the people, vividly listen to the voices of angry public sentiment, and discuss proper policies for the public livelihood economy together."
Chief Spokesperson Choi Bo-yoon criticized in a commentary, "National security has been taken hostage by Kim Jong-un and the lives of the people are under threat, not to mention that the prosecution service is closing its doors for the first time in 78 years and even its supplementary investigation rights have been stripped, creating a public safety void. The sole cause of all these crises is President Lee, who has abandoned his role as the chief administrator of state affairs."
Five-term lawmaker Na Kyung-won wrote on Facebook, "The Lee Jae-myung administration's complete enumeration survey of farmland sweeping rural areas nationwide is the prelude to a 'new tenancy farming system' through which the state seeks to reign as a mega-landlord, and is state violence that plunders farmers' private property."
The PPP also pressured the government over a series of bank hacking incidents, raising the possibility of North Korean involvement.
Chief Spokesperson Choi commented, "Ensure that the saying, 'North Korea mocks, banks are breached, and the government is still checking,' is heard no longer. Protecting the money and information of the people is the most fundamental aspect of national security."
Spokesperson Cho Yong-sul also remarked, "Instead of spending time focused on social media rhetoric politics, President Lee should first take care of the financial security of the public."
