South Korea has achieved a milestone of winning four consecutive gold medals in men's football at the Asian Games.
The under-23 (U-23) national team, led by head coach Lee Min-sung, defeated Japan 1-0 in the final of the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games held at Toyota Stadium in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, today, powered by the winning goal scored by Um Ji-sung (Swansea City) in the 16th minute of the second half to claim the championship.
With this victory, South Korea achieved four consecutive Asian Games men's football titles, following the Incheon Games in 2014, the Jakarta-Palembang Games in 2018, and the Hangzhou Games held in 2023.
In particular, South Korea won the gold medals by emerging victorious in the final matches against Japan at Jakarta, Hangzhou, and this tournament alike.
