The National Security Office held an emergency security review meeting today (Oct. 3) with the Ministry of National Defense and the Joint Chiefs of Staff regarding North Korea's ballistic missile launch into the Donghae.

The National Security Office stated that during the meeting, it "checked the response posture, analyzed and assessed the impact of this launch on our national security, and directed necessary measures to be taken."

It added, "The government emphasized reviewing our readiness posture once again to ensure there are no issues and making every preparation following the recent landmine explosion in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) and North Korea's latest ballistic missile launch."

Condemning North Korea, the National Security Office said, "Repeated ballistic missile launches are not only a violation of UN Security Council resolutions, but also a grave act that is entirely unhelpful for managing the current situation," adding, "We urge an immediate halt."

According to the Joint Chiefs of Staff, North Korea launched a ballistic missile into the Donghae from the Wonsan area at around 6:30 a.m. today.

This marks North Korea's 15th ballistic missile launch this year.
