A former executive of a standard workplace for persons with disabilities, who is accused of sexually assaulting a woman in her 20s with an intellectual disability, has admitted to the charges during his first trial.
During the first hearing held today (the 2nd) by Criminal Division 14 of the Incheon District Court (Presiding Judge Sohn Seung-beom), the legal representative for a man in his 60s identified as A, who was indicted and detained on charges of quasi-rape of a person with disabilities under the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, etc. of Sexual Crimes, stated, "We admit to all of the facts charged."
When asked by the presiding judge, "Is it true that the defendant has confessed to the crime?", A briefly answered, "Yes."
A is accused of sexually assaulting B, a woman in her 20s with an intellectual disability, five times from the summer of last year until June 9 at his residence, his ex-wife's residence, and inside a vehicle.
Investigations showed that B was sexually assaulted while working at a laundry business, a standard workplace for persons with disabilities where A served as an executive, starting in October 2024.
Both have currently resigned from their positions, but A's son remains in office as the head of the company.
It was found that B gave birth to a child after reporting the sexual assault, but due to having a grade 2 intellectual disability with cognitive abilities at the level of a 7-year-old, alongside suffering from a rare disease, her health condition is also poor.
Consequently, her father is currently caring for both the daughter and the child.
Outside the courtroom on this day, B's father appealed, stating, "My daughter has been diagnosed with a rare disease that gradually deteriorates her body and muscles, leaving her with limited mobility."
During a press conference held alongside disability advocacy groups after the incident came to light, B's father also claimed that A attempted to force his daughter to undergo an abortion and threatened her in an attempt to conceal the crime.
