Actors Choi Soo-jong and Ha Hee-ra, one of the entertainment industry's representative devoted couples, have been cast in the play "Love Letter" (produced by Su Company).
According to Su Company on October 1, the real-life couple, now in their 33rd year of marriage, will share the stage and act together for the first time since their debuts.
The play "Love Letter" is a production that encourages audiences to reflect on the meaning of life, love, and relationships, set against an emotional atmosphere fitting for the year-end season. Returning for a new season two years after its 2024 run, director Oh Ru-pina and composer Lee Beom-jae have joined the production to offer a fresh reinterpretation of the work.
Based on the original work by American playwright A.R. Gurney, "Love Letter" depicts the lives, love, misunderstandings, and shared fate of model student Andy and free-spirited Melissa through the letters they exchange over a period of 50 years, spanning from their childhood to old age.
Choi Soo-jong takes on the role of Andy, a model student who has faithfully lived the life his parents wanted. After returning to the stage for the first time in roughly nine years with the play "Oedipus," Choi chose "Love Letter" as his next project. He previously shared that he had attended every single performance of "Love Letter" during Ha Hee-ra's earlier run. Ha Hee-ra will play Melissa, a free spirit who grew up in wealth but lacked parental affection. This marks her third time performing the role, following runs in 2022 and 2024.
Production company Su Company stated, "If you want to gift a special time to your beloved parents and family this year-end, the play 'Love Letter' will be a wonderful choice," adding, "As this is our third presentation of the work, we will welcome audiences with an even more refined and polished stage."
Meanwhile, Choi Soo-jong and Ha Hee-ra formed a connection after working together on projects such as the 1990 film "You Know What? It's a Secret" and later tied the knot. They have one son and one daughter.
The play "Love Letter" will run from November 5 to December 27 at KT&G Sangsangmadang Daechi Art Hall, with tickets opening on October 8 via NOL.
