Police have requested an arrest warrant for a man in his 50s who allegedly caused the death of his elderly father in his 80s following a physical altercation during a hospital visit.
The Seosan Police Station in South Chungcheong Province announced that it is investigating the son, in his 50s, identified as A, on charges of fatal assault against an ascendant.
A is accused of pushing and knocking down his 80s father, B, during an argument while B was visiting A, who was hospitalized at a hospital in Seosan on September 21.
B, who suffered severe head injuries while receiving hospital treatment, ultimately passed away on September 28, exactly one week after the incident occurred.
Immediately following the incident, police booked A on charges of inflicting injury on an ascendant, but following B's death, they changed the charge to fatal assault against an ascendant and requested an arrest warrant.
Police believe the argument broke out while B was urging A to actively receive medical treatment, and plan to conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
