South Korean national judo team member Jung Soo-jin (Yongin University) has been eliminated from the competition without even stepping onto the mat after failing the random weight check on the day of her match.
Jung Soo-jin failed to appear for her Round of 16 match in the women's 48kg event against Tajikistan's Aliya Muminova at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, held at the Aichi International Arena in Nagoya, Japan, on the 30th.
According to an official from the Korea Judo Association, Jung passed the official weigh-in the previous day, but was disqualified after failing the random weigh-in held on the morning of the competition.
The allowance for the random weight check is 5 percent of the weight class. For the 48kg division, Jung was allowed up to 50.4kg, but she reportedly exceeded the limit by 100 grams.
Jung is a promising athlete who won bronze medals for two consecutive years at the Junior Asian Championships held in 2024 and 2025.
