Kim Min-seok, leader of the MINJU Party, stated regarding the landmine explosion in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), "We condemn North Korea's violation of the Armistice Agreement."
At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly today (September 30), Leader Kim said, "The DMZ explosion has been revealed to be caused by North Korea planting landmines south of the Military Demarcation Line."
He emphasized, "We criticize and condemn even more strongly the attitude of the North Korean authorities in denying it while claiming it was a staged incident," adding, "They must apologize and rectify this, and we urge our military to take countermeasures."
He added, "We must review our overall response to North Korea's so-called border fortification measures that began in early 2024 under the Yoon Suk Yeol administration."
His remarks are interpreted as pointing out that the Yoon Suk Yeol administration's response was inadequate regarding North Korea planting landmines in April 2024 while working to turn the Military Demarcation Line into a border, which is the background of the landmines discovered in the area of this incident.
Leader Kim also said, "I once again offer my words of comfort to the injured commander, soldiers, and their families, and we will check to ensure that every effort is made for their treatment and compensation."
