SSG Landers foreign pitcher Pedro Avila secured his second complete-game win of the season against the struggling LG Twins.
Backed by Avila's stellar pitching, SSG cruised to a 7-1 victory against LG in their home game of the 2026 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League at Incheon SSG Landersfield on September 29, pounding out 11 hits including back-to-back home runs by Guillermo Heredia and Jeon Eui-san.
The hero of the victory was Avila.
Mixing a powerhouse fastball topping out at 156 km/h with changeups and curves, Avila allowed 8 hits through 9 innings while striking out 6 and holding the LG lineup to just 1 run.
Joining the team as a replacement foreign player on July 8, Avila has emerged as the top pitcher of the second half of the season, posting 8 wins, 2 losses, and a 1.45 ERA across 13 appearances.
In particular, Avila has established himself as a reliable workhorse, becoming the only pitcher this season to achieve two complete-game wins.
SSG took an early lead in the bottom of the 1st inning, scoring 2 runs following consecutive doubles by Park Seong-han and Choi Ji-hoon, alongside an LG throwing error.
In the 3rd, Guillermo Heredia and Jeon Eui-san hit back-to-back home runs to extend the lead to 4-0.
LG attempted to mount a comeback in the top of the 4th when Park Hae-min hit a solo home run, but SSG widened the gap to 6-1 immediately after switching sides when Park Seong-han delivered a 2-run timely hit.
In the 7th, Ko Myung-jun added a run with a sacrifice fly to put the game out of reach.
Third-placed LG fell into a three-game losing streak.
