It has been confirmed that nearly 6.5 billion won in budget has been allocated to remove prosecution logos and text in preparation for the transition to the Prosecution Service, in accordance with the new criminal justice system taking effect in three days on the 2nd of next month.
The Ministry of Justice has allocated 6.5 billion won in reserve funds as the cost to remove prosecution logos and text attached to the exterior walls and glass windows of 67 prosecution offices nationwide.
Work to remove logos and nameplates attached to exterior walls, entrance doors, and information boards has been underway at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office and other regional offices starting yesterday (the 28th).
Some regional offices, including the Seoul Eastern, Southern, and Western District Prosecutors' Offices, have already completed replacing their signs with the name "Prosecution Service."
The Prosecution Service plans to temporarily use the government's "Taegeuk pattern" until a new logo is created to replace the existing corporate identity (CI) symbolizing an upright bamboo.
A considerable budget is also expected to be spent on replacing internal office structures, business cards, ID cards, and promotional materials, as well as revamping web pages including the Korea Information System for Criminal Justice Services (KICS).
As the name "Prosecutors' Office" is being erased from subway stations, bus stops, and roads nationwide, related agencies including local governments are also expected to invest related budgets.
