SBS's audition project "The Ballad of Us 2" has proven its explosive buzz even before its official broadcast, signaling yet another ballad syndrome.
Set to premiere on Monday, October 5 at 10 p.m., SBS's "The Ballad of Us 2" unveiled an official preview teaser for its first episode, capturing the refined artistry of contestants with an average age of 17.9.
"The Ballad of Us 2" is the second season of "The Ballad of Us," which previously swept South Korea in a ballad fever. This season as well, teasers and pre-released clips easily surpassed 10 million cumulative views ahead of the official broadcast, kicking off amid overwhelming attention.
The released preview featured the brightly lit studio set once again alongside the 150 members of the "Top 100 Ears" panel. In particular, it stirred viewers' emotions by presenting a generation-spanning history of ballads, from Won Mi-kyung's 1990 song "Farewell Journey" to Car, the garden's 2021 track "My Whole World".
Above all, the young contestants' polished performances drew tears and admiration from the "Top 100 Ears" panel. Judge Jung Jae-hyung, in particular, gave a standing ovation and lavish praise to a contestant who performed Maya's "Shout Myself," remarking, "I wondered, 'Could there be anyone left with a fresh perspective?' But after listening to the song, I thought, 'This was the person; this is who we have been searching for.'"
Spotlighting 40 years of ballad history spanning from 1985 to 2025, the blockbuster audition show "The Ballad of Us 2"—where contestants with an average age of 17.9 will interpret their life-defining songs through their own musical colors—will premiere on Monday, October 5 at 10 p.m.
