Visitors wearing hanbok (traditional Korean clothing) during the 63rd Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival, which runs from October 4 to 11, will be eligible for various free benefits.
Suwon City announced on September 29 that it will operate a traditional clothing experience event called "Suwon Hwaseong Hanbok Masil" at the Haenggung Square during the festival period.
Visitors who wear hanbok during this period will receive a variety of complimentary perks.
Admission to Hwaseong Haenggung Palace will be free, and visitors can also enter and view "Time Travel That Day, Haenggung Night Story," operated across five halls within the palace, as well as the Suwon Hwaseong Media Art show (29 seats for the first session) free of charge.
Hanbok rental will also be available at the Hanbok Masil experience booth located in the Haenggung Square.
The rental fee is 25,000 won per person for a two-hour period, and once visitors select a hanbok, staff members will assist them with changing and putting on accessories.
Visitors who rent a hanbok at the experience booth will be given tickets to watch "Yajo," a reenactment of King Jeongjo's nocturnal military training, on a first-come, first-served basis limited to 50 tickets per day.
As the schedules vary by program, including performances, visitors are advised to check in advance before visiting.
An official from Suwon City said, "Hanbok harmonizes with the historical spaces of Suwon Hwaseong and will be another way to enjoy the festival," adding, "It will be an opportunity for citizens and tourists visiting the Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival to experience traditional culture up close and become part of a scene from the festival."
