A fire broke out at a waste processing plant in Imgo-myeon, Yeongcheon, North Gyeongsang Province, at around 8:35 PM yesterday (September 28).
Fire authorities dispatched to the scene briefly issued Response Level 1, and brought the major flames under control at around 11:30 PM, about three hours after the fire started.
No injuries have been reported so far.
Fire authorities requested a joint response from the city of Yeongcheon to prevent contaminated water from the fire from flowing into nearby ponds.
Police and fire authorities plan to investigate the exact cause of the fire and the scale of the damage once they finish extinguishing the remaining embers.
