LISA of the group BLACKPINK has become the first Asian solo artist to win the Best Pop award at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).
At the MTV VMAs held in Los Angeles on the 27th local time, LISA won the major Best Pop category with her song "Dream," featuring Japanese actor Kentaro Sakaguchi, beating out pop stars like Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift.
While the group BTS previously won this category in 2020 among K-pop acts, LISA is the first K-pop solo artist, and notably the first Asian solo artist, to receive the award.

BTS won three awards, taking home Best K-Pop and Best Song with "SWIM," the title track of their 5th full-length album "Arirang," as well as winning Best Group.
