Following their summit, U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping held a tea time at the White House on the 25th local time.
Once again, President Trump came out personally to greet President Xi and his wife.
The two leaders sat down and talked face-to-face for three consecutive days.
The tea gathering took place in the Red Room, one of the White House's signature reception rooms decorated with red wallpaper and furniture.
Given that red is considered a color of good fortune in China, this is interpreted as a gesture of consideration by President Trump for President Xi and his wife.
President Trump expressed satisfaction, saying that tremendous progress had been achieved in this summit.
[Donald Trump / U.S. President: The United States is very pleased with this visit, and I am confident China will be as well. It has been a very beneficial and productive meeting for both countries.]
President Xi hinted that he could visit the U.S. once more, noting that there are opportunities to meet twice more within this year.
[Xi Jinping / Chinese President: Through the APEC summit in China and the G20 summit in the U.S. this year, we have opportunities to meet twice more.]
Subsequently, the two couples moved to the National Archives Building near the White House to view the U.S. Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution together.
With this schedule, President Xi concluded all events of his state visit to the U.S., his first in 11 years, and departed Washington.
U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer stated that tangible results were achieved in trade negotiations with China following this summit, and announced that the results would be revealed on Monday of next week local time.
