South Korea's shooting team captured the bronze medal in the men's 50m rifle 3 positions team event at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, securing a podium finish for the second consecutive tournament.
The national team, comprising Jeong Seung-woo (KT), Park Sung-hyun (Changwon City Hall), and Kwon Hyub-jun (Seosan City Hall), combined for a total of 1,751 points in the team event held concurrently with the individual qualification round at the Aichi Prefectural General Shooting Range in Japan on the 25th, finishing third behind China (1,766 points) and India (1,762 points).
Jeong Seung-woo recorded the highest score among the South Korean shooters with 592 points, followed by Park Sung-hyun with 580 points and Kwon Hyub-jun with 579 points.
Following the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games where Kim Jong-hyun, Kim Sang-do, and Mo Dae-sung combined for a bronze medal, South Korea has now reached the podium in this event for two consecutive editions.
In the individual event, Jeong Seung-woo advanced to the final, reserved for the top eight shooters, by finishing second overall in the preliminaries.
Park Sung-hyun finished 17th and Kwon Hyub-jun placed 19th, failing to qualify for the final.
In the individual final held at the same venue on the afternoon of the same day, Jeong Seung-woo scored a total of 304.2 points out of 30 shots, placing seventh among the eight finalists.
Jeong ranked fifth with 101.8 points in the kneeling position, and maintained his fifth position with a cumulative score of 205.6 points after adding 103.8 points in the prone position.
Shooting a total of 98.6 points in the standing position, Jeong finished with 304.2 points, trailing sixth-place Naoya Okada of Japan (305.0 points) by 0.8 points, and was ultimately eliminated first alongside eighth-place Neeraj Kumar of India (299.0 points).
The gold and silver medals went to China's Liu Yukun (360.5 points) and Zhang Changhong (360.2 points) respectively, while Islam Satpayev of Kazakhstan (348.3 points) claimed the bronze.
Jeong Seung-woo, who emerged as a promising prospect in the men's rifle 3 positions by setting a South Korean record of 593 points in 2025 while attending Korea National Sport University, completed his first international senior-level final in seventh place.
Although he missed out on an individual medal at his first-ever Asian Games, he claimed a bronze medal in the team event.
